My name is Brock Daughtry. I grew up in an average sized town called Perry, GA where my parents raised me to be the young man I am today. My father is a teacher at the local high school and my mother is a speech therapist. They raised me to work hard, be respectful, and always do what is right. I was also very close with my brother and sister, both of whom are younger than me. Growing up in my house provided me the opportunity to learn from two excellent role models and also taught me how to be a role model to others.
One thing my parents instilled into me that has stuck with me more than anything else is a hard work ethic. They taught me from a very young age that I must work for what I get and I should never expect to have anything handed to me. This has served me well in all areas of my life, including sports, schoolwork, and the various jobs I have had over the years. My work ethic is something that I can always control and something I never want to lose.
I chose engineering because I know that it will force me to use my strong work ethic for the rest of my life. I know the schoolwork and my career will be challenging and I believe that will make it much more interesting. I chose biosystems engineering because it will give me the opportunity to do be out in nature and see things that one cannot see from the confines of an office. I love being outside and I love nature so biosystems was an easy choice for me. I will graduate in May of 2016 and I am very excited about what my future has in store.
